Description:
Joan Miró is an exceptional artist, widely known for his highly original, poignant work, and his long, fertile trajectory. From the beginning and over the years, Miró set aside paintings, drawings, and sketches that he used to review his artistic development. With this aim in mind, he created three outstanding family-owned collections: his own, that of his wife Pilar Juncosa, and another for his daughter Maria Dolors. Miró. His Most Intimate Legacy provides an overview of the formation and development of these collections and opens an unprecedented door into the most personal Miró, relating his pieces with the intimate, cultural, and historical moments he experienced with his family.
This publication, illustrated with a large number of works that cover most of Joan Miró's career, from 1910 to 1976, along with documents that had never been shown to date, offers a unique opportunity to discover a scarcely known side of one of the most important artists of the twentieth century.
Essays by curators Marko Daniel, Director of the Fundació Joan Miró; Elena Escolar and Dolors Rodríguez Roig, art historians from the Collections Department at the Fundació; and the artists grandson Joan Punyet Miró are included in the publication.
