This catalogue raisonné of Miró’s paintings covers seventy-three years of artistic work, from 1908, the date of the earliest identified painting, to 1981. It is in six volumes, each one representing different stages of his work.
Volume III has 347 entries. After “Constellations”, Miró worked almost exclusively on paper until 1944. The appearance of large canvases in 1945 marked the beginning of Miró’s mature style. The period catalogued in this volume ends in 1953-1954 with wide-ranging works that are at once direct and spontaneous.
Each reproduction is accompanied by a descriptive note giving the following details: title, date, technique, medium, dimensions, location of signature, handwritten notes on the back, collection, provenance, exhibitions, and bibliography.
