Description:
Roni Horn (New York, 1955), who trained at Yale University, is one of today’s most singular and versatile artists, with an oeuvre ranging from sculptures, drawings and photographs through to installations. Literature and the word are essential presences in her works, which enter into dialogue with Emily Dickinson’s poetry and texts by Clarice Lispector. During numerous stays in Iceland she has produced a series of works giving crucial emphasis to nature and landscape, isolation and solitude. The catalogue brings together Horn’s most representative pieces and also includes a long conversation with Julie Ault, artist, writer and one of the co-founders of Group Material. Their discussion constitutes an essential text for understanding Roni Horn’s creative processes, references and influences.
Curated by Pilar Cruz for Espai 13, A Monster Who Tells the Truth exhibition series questions the boundaries between disciplines in order to explore the dynamics of power that affect knowledge.
